R. I. P.

Ok... so finally after all the hoax pune is finally a member of the elite "Cities under terror" club rubbing shoulders with the likes of big cities like mumbai, delhi, tel aviv, New york.

10 deaths and above 40 injured. Is this some kind of an eye opener for the pune folk or is it the beginning of the metropolitan era in the city where henceforth peoples lives would become less important and we will all just become a bunch of zombies trying to serve a purpose with a life running at a tremendous pace but without the slightest of the clues of where its heading just like mumbai.

Let me give u a run down insight of the place where the alleged cylinder/bomb blast took place. German Bakery (amazing cheeze cake and really nice watermelon juice) a typical hang out for predominantly all the europeans who serve at the osho rajnish ashram (...yes of the vinod khanna fame). Just about a kilometer or so away from the ashram itself. But there is more to the place time and day of the catastrophe.

Koregaon Park, a name that anyone who has ever spent a little time in his youth in pune must have heard. The party central of pune. The area with the maximum non maharashtrian population in pune. Ginormous number of pubs, bars, lounges in the periphery. In short a mecca for the part lovers of pune. Any party plan ever made in pune history by anyone usually starts with "KP chalein... Sheesha, sohos, souls ya high spirits... saturday hai toh cover hoga na.. dnt worry i knw some frnds".

A bomb blast on a saturday night in such an area, believe me you when i say the damage done could have been much more catastrophic than it is.

Now all this makes me wonder who was the real target here, the foreign population in the city, the youth or was it (i hope its not) just the beginning and there is more to come.

With already so much ho halla!! goin on over the my name is khan fiasco is this just another of those issues this city will be happy to embrace and just shove under the carpet.

Only time shall tell and i sincerely hope that pune specifically koregaon park still stays as lively as it used to be so as to show the finger to all those behind this henious act.

R.I.P. all the victims of the blast & R. I. H. (Rott in Hell) everyone responsible for the same.

No life is nor can ever be more precious than of the ones who just died.

First Post

Ok finally i am kinda blogging. Don't know though for how long i will continue the feat.

This is my first post to this blog so i will keep up blogging tradition and key in jitter jabber about myself and what is this blog for.

I am Rohit Iyer but most call me 'iyer'. I am a dark ugly pseudo south-indian nerd (an iyer on top of that). Why pseudo south-indian?...... because beleive me as much as i claim to be south indian i have never been to the south in my entire life. Bangalore is the southmost i have ever been (....Yes Ashwin i know it should be Nanjangud but bangalore sounds cooler).

All through my life i have lived in jaipur and a little amount of time i have spent in pune (the past 3 and a 1/2 years or so). Yes obviously now i won't seem like a south indian only but i still can speak Tamil and Malayalam to a considerable extent (Though not as good as english or hindi for that matter). And my name has the 'Iyer' trademark which not only used to bring unnecessary attention towards me in Jaipur (6 years ago Jaipur telephone directory had jus three iyers.. just to give an idea) but also branded me as a south indian everywhere i went.

Yes the biggest problem with Tam-Brahms like me is that we get stereotyped... (yes i m sure the picture in your head says... coconut oil clad, spectacle wearing, weird accent).. And if it was for my parents moreso my peers i would have been that but i'd like to believe i am not (your opinion may differ).

Currently i am pursuing my B. E. degree in Information Technology from MIT, pune. Schooling done from Jaipur.

Now, What is this blog about? Just my take on my life and my point of view towards various things.
